I am Amy, a pet portrait artist based in Derbyshire, and dogs are the animals I am commissioned to paint most. I create dog portraits from your photos in pastel or oil paint, and I post across the UK and worldwide.
As a dog owner myself, I understand the special place they have in your heart. I will undertake dog portraits of any size. I can do multiple dog portraits or portray your dog with your other pets, and I can add a background to any portrait if you would like.

Having a dog as a companion for the last few years of my life, I know just how much love they give and how much we give to them in return. There is no better feeling than having a dog as a constant companion by your side.
Dogs are as unique as their owners and dogs that may look alike, have a personality of their own. As a pet portrait artist, I have the opportunity to create a pet portrait that not only captures their physical likeness but something that shows their character and personality too.
A dog portrait can make the most wonderful of gifts, whether for a family member, friend or yourself.

Dog Portrait Sizes
I am happy to offer guidance when it comes to choosing the perfect dimensions for a dog portrait. If you are looking for a group dog portrait I recommend at least an 8x10 inch portrait. Alternatively, I can do individual portraits of the group in matching styles to be put on the wall together.

The Mini Dog Portrait
My smallest size, 5x7 inches or 6x6 inches square. Makes the most wonderful little gift. Suitable for a single head and neck portrait of any dog. Pastels are mounted to 8x10 or 8x8.
8x10
The Medium Dog Portrait
My most popular size dog portrait. Suitable for small double head and neck portraits, single head and neck and smaller full body portraits. Pastels mounted to 10x12.
12x16
The Large Dog Portrait
The biggest one! Suitable for head and neck portraits of larger dogs and multiple subject dog portraits. Pastels mounted to 16x20.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dog Portraits
Can you help me choose or take a photo of my dog? Yes. Working from the right photo is key to a good portrait, so I am happy to help you choose one. I also have a guide to taking photos for a pet portrait, as it is often the case that taking a photo specifically for a portrait works best.
Can I have more than one dog in a portrait? Yes. I can do multiple dog portraits, or portray your dog with your other pets. For a group dog portrait I recommend at least a 8x10 inch portrait. Please do get in touch with your requirements and I can guide you through our options.
Can I see my dog's portrait before it is sent? Yes. I send a photograph of the work for you to check you are happy before it is posted. If you would like changes, I will make them and send another photograph for your approval.
Do you take dog portrait commissions from outside the UK? Yes. I work entirely from digital photographs, so I can take commissions and send finished portraits to almost anywhere in the world.

Can I commission a portrait of a dog that has passed away? Of course, my memorial dog portraits are some of the most special I do.
